Lenin’s first attempt of a revolution in 1905 proved abortive, but in 1917, the revolutionaries triumphed in seizing power from the Provisional Government. On 7 November, 1917, the new Soviet government was formed headed by Lenin. The private ownership of property was abolished, an eight-hour working day for workers was introduced and workers’ control was established at all factories.
