. This discovery of Raman is significant for one more reason. C.V.Raman studied and conducted his scientific researches living in India while there was the widely shared notion that no great scientific discovery could be made under the then existing scientific facilities in India. The scientific talent of Raman appeared at a very young age. His first research paper, “The unsymmetrical diffraction bands due to a rectangular aperture” was published in London’s Philosophical Magazine when he was only 18.
