Besides his business, he also acted in London theatre. His fist written piece fo work was a long poem Venus and Adonis published in 1593. In 1611, he bade farewell to the stage and returned to Stratford where he died in April 1616.For the first 200 years after his death, Shakespeare’s plays were performed in cut or revised form and it was not until the 19th century with critical assessment, that the original texts were restored.
