Akbar followed a policy of religious tolearance and brotherhood. In 1563, he abolished pilgrims’ ftax and 1564, Jazia on Hindus. He also founded a universal religion calld ‘Din-e-Elahi’ for the religious unity of his empire which contained good points of all the major religions. In 1575, Akbar built an Ibadat Khana (House of Worship) at his capital Fatehpur Sikri which was opened to the followers of all religions. He also improved social laws, commerce and transportation
